The Penn State School of Visual Arts would like to congratulate all of the students who received awards or scholarships (see below for complete list). Our scholarship program has expanded in recent years, mostly due to the generosity of our alumni. Every gift, no matter how modest, is incorporated into our general scholarship fund. We look forward to continued support from alumni. Procedures for gift giving can be found at http://sova.psu.edu/giving.

REUBEN AND GLADYS GOLUMBIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Jessica Paholsky, B.A. Photography and Journalism
One of the most significant awards in the College of Arts and Architecture, the Reuben and Gladys Golumbic Scholarship Award was established by Ed Eckl (’55 B.S. Chemistry) to recognize students who have demonstrated superior design, humanistic, and performance records and who have proven their potential for significant contribution to the arts and humanities.
In the finest artistic tradition, Jessica Paholsky is a visual storyteller with a sensitivity for the marginalized and under appreciated. Steven Rubin, whose Photographic Narratives course Jessica completed last semester, described her as “exceptionally talented,” with ”a work ethic that is, without exaggeration, extraordinary.” According to Steven, “She constantly challenges and pushes herself—critically and creatively examining her work, refining and improving her technique, and continually developing her artistic strategies, conceptual approaches, and narrative abilities.” After six semesters at Penn State, two semesters abroad, learning two foreign languages, carrying two majors and two minors, Jessica has maintained a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average.
