A Dual-Title Degree: The M.S. degree program in art education and women's studies is oriented toward interdisciplinary course work and research and culminates in a thesis. Students planning to pursue a doctoral degree in art education or women’s studies are strongly encouraged to apply for admission to the master of science degree program. Required Courses Art Education 502: Introduction to Research in Art Education Additionally, M.S. students are expected to enroll in Art Education 590: Colloquium for at least one credit each fall semester. In women's studies, M.S. students must take a core of three required courses: Women's Studies 501: Feminist Perspectives on Research and Teaching Students in the dual degree program must complete an additional six credits in women's studies (three of which can be thesis research credits) and additional art education credits to total a minimum of 15 credits. All master's degree students must also complete 6 credits of foundational studies at the 400 level or above in areas such as art history, studio, philosophy, educational theory and policy, educational psychology, psychology, and anthropology. The remaining 9 credits are made up of elective studies. women's studies and art education elective courses can be double-counted toward the requirements in each area. Additional M.S. Requirements
